A new live-action Gundam movie is moving forward and we have new casting news! Jason Clarke (Brotherhood) has joined the film. Gundam is being developed by Legendary with plans for a Netflix release. He is joining previously annouced cast additions Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo.
The movie will be written and directed by Jim Mickle, known for his work on Sweet Tooth. He is also producing the film with Linda Moran. Noah Centineo doubles on this project as both actor and producer alongside Enzo Marc.
In 1979 the Gundam hype started with “Mobile Suit Gundam,” one of the first robot anime to air. The franchise quickly built a large following through anime which was a shift from the “super robots” genre like Mazinger Z. Gundam changed the robot anime structure to include more realistic themes like technical limitations and political drama.
Details about Clarke’s role have not been shared. Plot information is also limited at this stage. This project is still in the development stage.
