Dracula Land Amusement Park Rising in Romania

Romania isn’t a country that’s well known for tourism. When the average tourist thinks of traveling through Europe, you hear stories of seeing the Eifel Tower in France, the street of Venice, or perhaps the Acropolis in Greece. Romania, while a beautiful country, doesn’t usually receive the same recognition. Not unless you’re a massive fan of vampires, since Dracula‘s Castle was famously located in the Transylvanian region of the country. Some prospective amusement park developers have realized this, and are hoping to cash in with Dracula Land.

Dracula Land wants to go ALL-IN on every single possible thing, all at once, even if it’s not directly connected to the fabled vampire of legend. The upcoming amusement park is shaping up to be something monstrous in its own right. With an estimated 192 acres to work with, Dracula Land will be situated outside of Bucharest, and have several different areas for guests to explore. Along with the Transylvania area that will have a roller coaster and forest to explore, there will be other regions themed after other vampire lore.

If the wilderness setting seems a bit too old and you prefer your vampires to be a bit more Victorian era, you can go to London Town. The region promises vampire hunting via parkour and obstacle courses, along with horse and carriage rides. Anyone familiar with the Bram Stoker story will recall Dracula did not stay in Transylvania, he aimed to move elsewhere and came to England. So why not have a vampire area there? And while not directly stated to be inspired by Anne Rice‘s “Interview with the Vampire,” what else could prompt a Port of New Orleans region? Though the werewolf roller coaster set to be there seems less Lestat and more Jacob Black, but that’s another discussion for another day.

The park is aiming to go into full on resort mode too by making room for things you’d expect to find at similar locations. For example, a 22,500-seat arena will be constructed for hosting concerts and events. There’s also going to be a waterpark that will be approximately 12 acres in size, and a series of three hotels with 1200 rooms total. The developers also want to include space for a racetrack and game development studios. Not sure about the logic behind those last two things unless they’re adamant about having Dragula races and making Dracula games. Then again, the website does show what looks like an MMORPG version of the park so, do with that what you will.

The project is slated to start development in late 2026, and aims to be ready for guests in 2027. Seems ambitious, especially if the workers have to avoid the sunlight for fear of being burned to dust. In the meantime, the Dracula Land website will eventually be hosting virtual tours to experience the park’s grandeur. Have to be honest though, if there was ever a website that looked like it was trying to over promise, this is it. “Dracula Land is a hybrid ecosystem — a physical destination, a digital universe, and a scalable intellectual property.” Maybe it will be all those things; let’s just hope Drac isn’t biting off more than he can chew.
