It’s Halloween time and ’tis the season for spooky scary things. Perhaps you’re frightened by paranormal and supernatural entities, or maybe your trepidations are more grounded in the reality of creepy crawlies like bugs and spiders. If it’s the latter, then you may not have wanted to be around a Plano, Texas Spirit Halloween store when it became the playground for a spider swinging through its rafters.
Sorry, not a spider- a spider monkey.

Why was there a monkey in the store? It is apparently a pet of a patron who was visiting the store on Monday, October 27th. One of the animatronics activated, which scared the monkey, which ran from his owner and climbing up a pole into the rafters.
The spider monkey swung around the store, prompting a call to the police to assist. No one was harmed during the incident, and the monkey was eventually tempted back down to his owner via a cookie. Which, in fairness, would be enough to coax many a person down from a state of scared anxiety.
We’re grateful to hear that everything wrapped up with nothing more than an interesting sight for people and a light scare to the monkey and a couple of patrons. Scared animals around humans do not always end up in a positive way, so it’s nice to see that people will have some stories to tell about the day they survived the monkeying around in Spirit Halloween this year.
