Do you long for the 80s antics of undercover duo Crockett & Tubbs? If so, we’ve got some good news for you! Michael B. Jordan (“Sinners”) and Austin Butler (“Dune: Part Two“) are in talks to star in a developing “Miami Vice” movie for Universal Pictures.
Joseph Kosinski (“F1”) is currently set to direct from a script by Eric Warren Singer (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and Dan Gilroy (“Andor”).
This new “Miami Vice” movie will be based on the pilot and first season of the hit 1980s series created by Anthony Yerkovich. The show starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as two undercover Miami police officers, Ricardo Tubbs and James Crockett. Each week, this duo would chip away at the rampant crime and corruption in 1980s Miami.
This will be the second big-screen adaptation of “Miami Vice,” following a 2006 version directed by Michael Mann that starred Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell.
If they sign on, Jordan will reportedly play Tubbs, with Butler as Crockett.
