After decades of fans begging and pleading with comedy icon Mel Brooks to make it, a follow-up to “Spaceballs” has finally entered production. Now, we know what you’re thinking, “Yeah, I’ve heard that before.” Well, there has already been a table read with returning stars Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, and Daphne Zuniga!
Meaning we are one giant step closer to “Spaceballs 2,” which we were promised back in 1987!

Amazon MGM Studios shared a photo of the table read to social media. The image itself mimics the first photo from J.J. Abrams‘ cast read-through for “Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens.”

In the image, we see Brooks, Moranis, Pullman, and Zuniga with George Wyner, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan, among others. “Spaceballs The Table Read,” the caption to the photo reads.
The upcoming sequel is directed by Josh Greenbaum from a script by Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez. It marks Moranis’ return to acting after he retired. His last film was “Honey We Shrunk Ourselves” in 1997, but he has made voice acting appearances in several projects, as well as Mint Mobil ads alongside Ryan Reynolds.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Spaceballs 2” as the project continues to develop.
