Sonic Getting Design Change Due to Backlash From Fans

Thank Goodness someone out there heard us! And it was someone important. Director Jeff Fowler has responded to the criticism on Twitter and stated that he is going to be redesigning Sonic for the movie.

Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast ?✌️

Many fans have been upset over the way Sonic’s eyes were shaped, though his whole body was a little cringy… and that would be the easiest fix for Sony to incorporate. There has been a lot of Sonic Fanart going around the net that looks WAY better than the movie.

Now if we get something like that I will truly be happy. My four year old is very happy with this news and to quote from her about the old design, “Sonic is a Hedgehog, he’s nice. That is not very nice looking.” And this from the girl who wants to legally change her name to “Sonic the Hedgehog”.

Today is a win for fans all over and if you weren’t going to see the film now, you may want to. Even if it’s just to see what they decided to go with design wise and if it works out when the movie releases.

Sonic the Movie is still set for November 8, 2019. Hopefully they can keep it without having to push back the date.

What do you think of all this? Are you excited for the film? Tell us in the comments!
