2nd “Grand Theft Auto VI” Trailer Hits, 2026 Release Confirmed

You’re about to hear a lot more of The Pointer Sisters song “Hot Together” in the upcoming days. The team at Rockstar Games just dropped their second trailer for the long awaited “Grand Theft Auto VI” and there’s a lot to unpack with what to expect for the sequel to the second best selling game of all time. It’s actually been about a year and a half since we got our first official glimpse of the game, and we got to see a hell of a lot more of it now, all set to the tune of a Pointer Sisters banger.

We already got to know a bit about what to expect thanks to the first trailer. We knew it was going to return us to Vice City and prominently feature a man and woman duo. The protagonists, Lucia and Jason are reunited in the trailer after Jason picks up his partner from prison. And then a LOT of stuff happens after that. The police are involved, probably something nefarious happening, and a lot of romance between the two. There’s a reason they picked “Hot Together” for this trailer.

The video description tells us, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.” Leonida appears to be the fictional replacement for Florida, fittingly so given the area is credited as being discovered by Juan Ponce De Leon. And even though this is our first trip back to Vice City in a long time, it looks like it hasn’t lost much of its edge since the ’80s.

Assuming Lucia is playable, she would be the first playable lead in a mainline GTA game, with her and Jason being the first playable couple. “GTA V” gave us three playable characters whose journeys connected them all together, but the romantic couple dynamic here is a considerable change of pace. Unfortunately, we’re going to have a while to wait until we get to see how that dynamic plays out.

At the very least, the game looks like an absolute blast and there are sure to be more details down the line as we continue to hear more about the game, a year ahead of its release. We’ll keep you posted in the months to come.

“Grand Theft Auto VI” is set to hit May 26th, 2026. That’ll be almost 13 years since “GTA V,” which is equal parts staggering and depressing to think about.
