We have some more “Toy Story 5” news for all you Pixar fans out there. Ernie Hudson (“Quantum Leap”) will be voicing action figure Combat Carl for the upcoming film. A role previously played by the late pro football player turned actor Carl Weathers (“The Mandalorian”).

Weathers voiced the role of Combat Carl in the 2013 TV special “Toy Story of Terror!” and 2019’s “Toy Story 4.”

“Toy Story 5” is written and directed by Andrew Stanton. Weathers will be joining returning cast members Tim Allen (“The Santa Clause”), Tom Hanks (“Asteroid City”), and Joan Cusack (“Homecoming”).

While plot details are still firmly under wraps, last week Allen dished some on what fans can expect.  “I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” Allen told WIVB. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

    More on “Toy Story 5“

Allen’s remarks echo some hints that Pixar gave last month about “Toy Story 5.”

“So I will say Toy Story 5, I think [writer and director] Andrew’s done a really great job of letting moments breathe in unexpected ways,” Pete Docter, Pixar’s chief creative officer, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Things that you’re like, wait, is this a Toy Story movie? Just some of his choices, which I think we need at this point. We’ve had four of ’em already. We got to keep people surprised, so it’s going to be fun.”

“Toy Story 5,” is slated to hit theaters on June 19th, 2026. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it develops. In the meantime, you can check out the previous four “Toy Story” movies streaming exclusively on Disney+.
