Fyre Fest 2 Loses Second Location, “Not Happening There”

Fyre Fest is the gift that just keeps on giving. But not to its potential attendees. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had a lot to say about the upcoming event being promoted by convicted felon Billy McFarland. With only one confirmed performer, and a venue change after local government said it wasn’t happening there, things continue to look bleak. Recent history seems to be repeating itself because the second location says they have no idea the event is taking place.

    Netflix

The first location was Isla Mujeres in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Tickets were on sale, and that’s where Fyre Fest 2 is going to be even though there wasn’t an actual line up. At least that’s what McFarland was saying. The Mexican government said they’d never heard of the event being set up there at all. Jump forward to the end of March, and McFarland announced the venue had changed to Playa del Carmen.

At the time of this writing, that’s what the official website for Fyre Festival 2 states. But once again, that’s news to the Mexican government.

According to a representative from the city hall of Playa del Carmen, the event isn’t scheduled to take place there. It might be a good time to remember that McFarland is a convicted felon and the first Fyre Fest was so infamously bad that multiple documentaries were made about it. Is it possible the representative made a mistake and they missed the permit or something? Well, not according to the government’s Instagram post about it.

“In response to rumors about a supposed event called ‘Fyre 2,’ we inform you that no event of that name will be held in Playa del Carmen. After a thorough review, there is no record or planning of any such event in the municipality,” as translated by Google.

Fyre Festival 2 is still scheduled to take place from May 30th-June 2nd, 2025. That’s less than two months away, and the only confirmed performer at this point is still Antonio Brown. In case you were wondering, no, Brown does not have enough musical material to headline four full days of shows. In contrast, the New York State fair announced four months ahead of time that Shaggy is performing. Because that’s what you do when you plan a music festival, you give out the line-up months ahead of time along with an actual confirmed location.

Maybe it’s just us, but this whole Fyre Fest thing is starting to smell a little fishy.
