“Jurassic World: Rebirth” Trailer Teases New Dinos, New Terrors

We’ve heard some interesting teasers thus far about the next chapter in the “Jurassic Park” film franchise. Obviously now they’re all called “Jurassic World,” which is where “Rebirth” comes in. This is yet another tale of humans having some wild reason to return to one of the InGEN locations where dinosaurs have taken over and still run wild. Sound familiar? It’s sort of the plot to every single one of these films after the first.

Not to sound too down on a project before we even see it, but the new trailer isn’t really inspiring any kind of excitement in the flick. Which sucks, because with director Gareth Edwards (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “The Creator“) at the helm, we had really high hopes. Paired with writer David Koepp‘s (who wrote the script for Steven Spielberg‘s original film based on the works of Michael Critchton) involvement, this should really be something. ESPECIALLY when everyone involved was teasing a scene from the original novel that was cut from the 1997 film.

That scene has now been confirmed as the Tyrannosaur in the water, which we get a glimpse of in the new trailer. Which, honestly, we’re in to, because it goes in line with Edwards’ vision to return the franchise to a more horror-based tone.

“‘Jurassic Park’ is a horror film in the witness protection program. Most people don’t think of it like that. We all went to see it as kids,” Edwards told Vanity Fair. “But I was scared s***less, to be honest, when I was at the cinema watching the T-Rex attack. It’s one of the most well-directed scenes in cinema history, so the bar’s really high to come on board and try and do this.”

There *is* a new dinosaur on display in the trailer, too. And we can absolutely see why it was being described as some “Rancor, H.R. Giger, a little T-Rex.”

“Jurassic World: Rebirth” stars Scarlett Johansson (“Avengers“), Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight“), and Jonathan Bailey (“Wicked“). It’s set to hits theaters July 2nd, 2025. Check out the trailer now:
