A24 Teases Totally Sick “Y2K” Popcorn Bucket

A24’s upcoming film “Y2K” may be entering the popcorn bucket wars. The late 90s-themed horror sci-fi comedy could be hitting theaters with a collectible bucket shaped like an iMac.

Commenters have already posted their own iMac DIYs and pleas for this product to be real. So if this is A24’s way of gauging market interest, it clearly worked. Some are pointing out that Apple is known for astronomical fees to license its products. But since an iMac is already featured in the trailer, it’s possible that a brand deal extending to merchandise may already be in play.

    “Y2K”

The movie will follow two high school nobodies who make the tropey decision to crash a huge New Year’s Eve party in 1999. If the dawn of the new millennium weren’t enough pressure, when the clock strikes midnight machines begin to go haywire killing everyone in sight. Think “Maximum Overdrive” but AC/DC’s “Who Made Who?” is replaced by  Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumper.”

    “Y2K,” A24

“Y2K” is the directorial debut for “Saturday Night Live” alum Kyle Mooney, who co-wrote the script with music video director Evan Winter. It stars Jaeden Martell (“Arcadian”), Rachel Zegler (“Snow White”), Julian Dennison (“Deadpool 2”), Daniel Zolghadri (“American Horror Stories”), and Lachlan Watson (“The Last Kiss”).

Actress and 90s staple Alicia Silverstone (“Clueless”) will also star alongside Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.

“Y2K” hits theaters on December 6th. You can check out the trailer below:
