Iconic “Poltergeist” House to Become Fully Themed AirBnB

The iconic home from the 1982 film “Poltergeist” just sold for $1.28 million, $100,000 over the asking price. The new owners plan to restore the Simi Valley, California house and turn it into a short-term rental property.

Christian Melgar and Zo Amilee with Coldwell Banker Realty Westlake Village recently spoke to TMZ about the sale. The unnamed new owner is an investor from Los Gatos, CA. According to the realtors, they plan to turn it into an Airbnb replicant of the set from “Poltergeist.”

While this is peak spooky season and obviously the ideal time to launch this endeavor. They plan to take their time and lovingly restore the home to look more like what audiences saw on screen. So maybe next year, you can live out your dream by sitting in front of a static tv and announcing “They’re here!” (Because we refuse to believe that we are the only ones.)

The film was directed by Tobe Hooper from a script by Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais, and Mark Victor. It centered around a family with two young children being harassed by angry spirits in their new home.

The house was listed for sale in August for the first time in 45 years. It is 2,373 square feet with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a (possibly now skeleton-free) swimming pool, and a jacuzzi.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about the “Poltergeist” house as they become available. And, if you haven’t picked up the 4K yet (which is AWESOME), you should absolutely do that here.
