Today we have some news from the wholesome side of the internet. The Master of Horror himself John Carpenter (“Halloween”) took to X (formally Twitter) to praise the video game “Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown.” Given that the game came out eight months ago, this was a random, but kind bit of cross-media feedback.
The next day, “Prince Of Persia” creator Jordan Mechner responded to the post, talking about how much Carpenter inspired him.
“🙏❤️@thehorrormaster Your films were formative for me,” he responded. “This one came out while I was programming the first @princeofpersia on Apple II. I even mail-ordered the screenplay to study it–one of the first physical scripts I owned. Thank you; your post made my day!“
The post was accompanied by two pictures, one of a scene from Carpenter’s film “Big Trouble Little China.” The other is an older image of Mechner programming. He then goes on to offer the legendary director a copy of his new graphic novel memoir “Replay.”
Publisher Ubisoft also joined in on thanking Carpenter for showing “Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown” some love.
