Don’t you just love an amazing film score? The documentary “Music By John Williams,” about the legendary composer, will have its world premiere at the 38th AFI Fest. And, it’ll be coming to Disney+ this November!

Directed by Laurent Bouzereau, and produced by Lucasfilm Ltd, Amblin Documentaries, and Imagine Documentaries, the film tells the story of the legendary composer. It takes a look at his early days as a jazz pianist to his work on franchises like “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” and “Jurassic Park.” Along with stand-alone films like “Jaws,” “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,””Schindler’s List,” and many more Williams has left an indelible mark on all of pop culture.

A mark that is so great that in 2016 he became the first to receive AFI’s Life Achievement Award. He has racked up 54 Oscar nominations with five wins, 26 Grammys, seven BAFTA Awards, three Emmys, and four Golden Globes. Earlier this year, Sony also dedicated a building on its lot to him.

Interviews in “Music By John Williams”

As you can imagine Williams has befriended and influenced countless people in the entertainment industry. “Music By John Williams,” will feature interviews with Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Kate Capshaw, Gustavo Dudamel, J.J. Abrams, Chris Martin, Ron Howard, Chris Columbus, George Lucas, Itzhak Perlman, Lawrence Kasdan, Yo-Yo Ma, Ke Huy Quan, James Mangold, Alan Silvestri, David Newman, Thomas Newman, Seth MacFarlane, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and Branford Marsalis. With a focus on how his work has touched their lives.

“John Williams is an American icon with a true and timeless global impact,” said Bob Gazzale, AFI’s President and CEO. “One could say we are ‘over the moon’ to host the World Premiere of the film, but that sentiment would hardly soar without the music of E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL.” And we hope the documentary is… out of this world.

“Music By John Williams,” will premiere at AFI Fest on October 23rd, followed by a limited theatrical run, before hitting Disney+ on November 1st.
