Noah Hawley’s Weyland Yutani Series Gets Title- “Alien: Earth”

Alongside Fede Alvarez’s upcoming film “Alien: Romulus,” there will also be a new series from FX based on the beloved franchise. Chairman of FX Networks, John Landgraf, and showrunner Noah Hawley have just confirmed it will be called “Alien: Earth.”

    “Alien 3” 20th Century FOX

“We just wrapped production, so now I’m into the long post that gets into visual effects,” Hawley said. “It’s a very big show. It’s nice to have some time with it. The first year of anything, you want to feel like you’re not up against the wall in terms of time. I’ve seen four of the eight hours of director cuts and engaged in the process of figuring out, cinematically, what it wants to be. It’s one of my favorite parts of making a show.”

“Alien: Earth” is a prequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic 1979 sci-fi film “Alien,” which spawned eight sequels. Reportedly, it is “set on Earth 70 years from now.” The show stars Timothy Olyphant (“Justified”), Alex Lawther (“The End of the F*cking World“), Samuel Blenkin (“Black Mirror“), and Essie Davis (“The Babadook”). Along with Adarsh Gourav (“The White Tiger“), Sydney Chandler (“Sugar”), David Rysdahl (“Oppenheimer”), Babou Ceesay (“We Hunt Together”), and Erana James (“Uproar”).

    Developing “Alien: Earth”

Hawley is also the creator of FX’s “Fargo,” a show based on the 1996 film of the same name by the Coen brothers. There was some concern about splitting his attention between “Fargo” and “Alien: Earth.” However, Landgraf assures fans that Hawley was given as much space as he needed to give each project the focus it needs.

“We’re pretty bullish on ‘Alien: Earth’ and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, ‘Alien: Earth’ is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of ‘Fargo,’” Landgraf said.

There is currently no release date for “Alien: Earth” but we’ll keep you posted on updates as they become available. “Alien: Romulus” hits theaters on August 16th. You can check out the official trailer below:
