Filmmaker David Lynch (“Twin Peaks”) has dabbled in several ventures outside of celluloid like coffee, sportswear, and music. On June 5th, he announced he would be collaborating on a third album with singer/songwriter Chrystabell titled “Cellophane Memories.” Lynch also directs the dreamy video for the first single “Sublime Eternal Love.”

“Cellophane Memories,” seeks to capture a dreamy sense of “loneliness and romance,” according to its press release. The music was inspired by a vision Lynch had one Fall when he saw a bright light shining over a line of trees. “As he recalls it, the light became the lilt of Chrystabell’s voice and revealed a secret to him,” the album announcement reads.

Chrystabell says “Cellophane Memories,” contains “many doors that are left open to wonder, wander, and get turned around in. It’s like mood music — not that it creates a mood, but more that it reflects your own.”  The album will also feature music from the late composer Angelo Badalamenti alongside Lynch and Chrystabell. It contains ten tracks with the lead single and closing song being “Sublime Eternal Love.”

The three-and-a-half-minute video has Chrystabell’s face in frame 3 different times, all flickering in and out of existence. She vocalizes three parts as if she’s singing in a round with herself, her image springing back to life with each note. All backed by a synthonic beat.

Lynch and Chrystabell have previously collaborated on her 2011 debut album “This Train” and the 2017 EP “Somewhere in the Nowhere.” Lynch also cast her in 2017’s “Twin Peaks” revival as Agent Tammy Preston.

“Cellophane Memories” will be released on August 2nd via Sacred Bones Records. You can pre-order a copy here, and you can check out the video for “Sublime Eternal Love” below:
