Last week, filmmaker Rian Johnson announced the third installment of his “Knives Out” franchise would be called “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.” He also confirmed that Daniel Craig would reprise his role as Benoit Blanc, via a 45-second teaser trailer. This week, we’re learning about all the exciting additions to the cast!

Glenn Close, Andrew Scott (“Fleabag”), Josh O’Connor (“Challengers”), Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), and Kerry Washington (“Scandal“) will be starring alongside Craig.

Plot details are still under wraps, so there is no telling who Scott, O’Connor, Spaeny, and Washington may play. However, Johnson and Craig have teased that it is Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.” “Wake Up Dead Man” is expected to begin production soon and will be released sometime in 2025.

Like the previous films, 2019’s “Knives Out” and 2022’s “Glass Onion,” Johnson is writing, directing, and producing. He will produce alongside T-Street partner Ram Bergman, who worked on the previous installment.

    “Knives Out“

The first “Knives Out” film was released by Lionsgate and grossed an impressive $312 million against a $40 million budget. Netflix then bought the rights to the series for more than $450 million before debuting the sequel, “Glass Onion.” It was the first Netflix original that played in theaters but showings were limited to 600 AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark locations. The streamer refused to release what the film made. But it’s estimated to have grossed between $13 and $15 million during its week-long run.

Neither Johnson nor Netflix has indicated what the release strategy will be for “Wake Up Dead Man.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” as they become available. Catch both films on Netflix now. You can check out the teaser trailer, narrated by Craig, below:
