Paramount Pictures has graced us with a 2nd trailer for its upcoming “A Quiet Place” prequel, “A Quiet Place: Day One.” Unlike previous films in the franchise, this one will take place before the Earth is overrun by bloodthirsty aliens. It stars Lupita Nyong’o (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”), Joseph Quinn (“Stranger Things”), Djimon Hounsou (“Rebel Moon”), and Alex Wolff (“Oppenheimer”).

The new trailer features Nyong’o’s character and her cat as some of the unlucky people trapped in New York during the start of the invasion. Even though the first film and 2020’s “A Quiet Place Part II” focus on the world after the aliens have taken over Earth. “Day One,” will show society as it was when everything started. We even see the characters begin to work out that the invaders hunt by sound in the trailer.

“Day One,” will also be taking a different approach to the franchise behind that camera with Michael Sarnoski (“Pig”). However, the previous director, John Krasinski (“The Office”), still wrote and produced the film.

    More To Come?

With this deviation from previous entries, Paramount seems to be looking for ways to keep expanding the franchise. The studio also has “A Quiet Place: Part III,” still in the works with a tentative release 2025 release window. But very little is known about the project which is making some fans a bit antsy about its production. While that could be a sign of trouble, they could also be holding details back to avoid pulling focus from “Day One”’s release.

Only time will truly tell which is the case, but as optimistic horror fans we’d like to believe the latter.

“A Quiet Place: Day One” hits theaters on June 28th. We’ll keep you posted on updates about either project as they become available. The first two films are currently streaming on Paramount+. You can watch the new trailer below:
