Ari Aster’s “Eddington” to Star Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal

A24 will be teaming up with the delightfully over-the-top Ari Aster once again for the upcoming movie “Eddington.” Production is set to start this week and it’s already packed with more star power than you can shake a stick at. Oscar winners Emma Stone (“Poor Things“) and Joaquin Phoenix (“Joker”), Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”), and Austin Butler (“Dune: Part Two”) will star.

“Eddington” will center around a small-town New Mexico sheriff with lofty aspirations. [And with Aster, the shorter the synopsis, the more insane the film will be.] It will also star Luke Grimes (“Yellowstone”), Deirdre O’Connell (“The Requin”), Micheal Ward (“The Book of Clarence”), and Clifton Collins Jr.  (“Nightmare Alley”).

Aster will once again be writing and directing, as well as producing with Lars Knudsen through their company Square Peg. A24 has previously released three of his feature films, including 2018’s “Hereditary,” 2019’s “Midsommar,” and 2023’s “Beau Is Afraid.” All three of these established him as a filmmaker who enjoys long shots and likes mixing violence with dark humor.

This will be the second collaboration between Aster and Phoenix, who starred in “Beau Is Afraid” alongside Patti LuPone, Nathan Lane, and Amy Ryan.

There is no release date set for “Eddington” just yet. But we will keep you posted on updates as they become available. Below you can check out a trailer for “Beau Is Afraid” currently streaming on Paramount+, Showtime, and Hoopla.
