NEWS FROM THE OASIS-
This past weekend was the 96th Annual Academy Awards. And, as often happens, the real deals and news comes from the parties surrounding the Oscars. Like this VERY EXCITING tidbit of news, especially if you’re a fan of “Ready Player One.”
While I personally have a love-hate-hate-anger-love relationship with the 2018 film, I am definitely interested in a sequel. Author Ernie Cline published his sequel novel in 2020 to mixed reception. Character turns and some pretty big surprises in the tome lead to…lets just say….concern. ANYHOW.
The movie version did extremely well for Warner Bros. Pictures, and the main cast have all been anxious to return to the OASIS. Which brings us to the news.
During one of the post-Oscars parties, Steven Spielberg was actually asked what was going on with the sequel (that Cline confirmed back in 2020). “We’re in the discovery phase, trying to figure out what’s next,” he told Showbizz411. Spielberg DID confirm he’d be producing. Just how involved he’ll be remains to be seen.
So, we’ll let you know what we hear about a possible “Ready Player Two” movie, if and when it happens. In the meantime, you can pick up the books (and the movie) on Amazon now. The film is actually streaming in Netflix.
