“X-Men ’97” Gets 4-Issue Comic Ahead of Animated Series

One of the things we’re most looking forward to is the return of the animated “X-Men” series. Yes, that wonderful 90s show that cemented a generation’s love of the Marvel Comics is getting a continuation series, “X-Men ’97.” To conincide with this, Marvel Comics has announced an all-new 4-issue comics run.

Startling revelations here lead directly into the hotly anticipated new series, discover what Storm, Jubilee, Wolverine, and the rest of the X-Men have been up to in the time before their return.

“There’s a very good chance I wouldn’t be writing comics today if not for the impact ‘X-Men: The Animated Series‘ had on me as a kid,” writer Steve Foxe said. “Heck, the voice actors from the show are still the voices I hear when I read the comics today! Getting to reunite with my X-MEN ’92: HOUSE OF XCII collaborator Salva Espín on this official prelude to X-Men ’97 has felt like a bucket-list project a lifetime in the making, and Beau [DeMayo] and the rest of the ’97 team gave us a fantastic runway to come up with our own original tale that feeds right into what viewers will get to experience in the new season.”

“X-Men: ’97” is expected to hit Disney+ in early 2024. We hope they keep that absolute banger classic theme song.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
