RUMOR: Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling to Lead “Ocean’s 11” Prequel

What if we told you there was a possible “Ocean’s 11” prequel being rumored? One about…oh, let’s say…Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) parents? Ok, so we have your attention, right? What if we ALSO told you “Barbie” stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are possibly being eyed for those roles?

Given the duo starred in Warner Bros. Pictures’ highest highest-grossing film ever, it makes perfect sense that the company would want them together again. This would also be the first project in the franchise since 2018’s “Ocean’s 8” starring Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

Plot details for the “Ocean’s 11” prequel are still being kept under wraps, but it is believed that the story will take place in 1960s Europe. Which would be a far cry from the Las Vegas backdrop of the original 1960s film starring the Rat Pack. As well as the George Clooney-led reboot trilogy in the early 2000s. While “Ocean’s 8” moved the action to New York City, it still seems like this setting would be a huge change of pace for the series.

At this point, we know for sure about the project is Jay Roach will direct from a script by by Carrie Solomon. We also know Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment is involved somehow.

“I can’t really say much,” LuckyChap Entertainment executive and “Ocean’s 11” prequel producer Josey McNamara said. “But I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.”

“They’re wonderful together,” he said when asked directly about Gosling and Robbie teaming back up. “The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.” McNamara co-founded LuckyChap alongside Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Sophia Kerr. The company produced “Barbie” along with Emerald Fennell’s festival hit “Saltburn.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about the “Ocean’s 11” prequel as they become available.
