The upcoming action-thriller “Silent Night” has just received its first trailer. The Joel Kinnaman-led (“For All Mankind”) film will be director John Woo’s first American film in 20 years! With the last being 2003’s “Paycheck” starring Ben Affleck, Uma Thurman, and Aaron Eckhart.

“Silent Night” revolves around a man (Kinnaman) seeking revenge for the death of his young son. Who was tragically killed when he got caught in a gang’s crossfire on Christmas Eve. While recovering from a wound that costs him his voice, the father makes vengeance his life’s mission and embarks on a punishing training regimen in order to avenge his son’s death.
Due to the character’s injury, “Silent Night” is almost completely dialogue-free. “It was a very smart script and the story really touched me [because] I have three children,” Woo, told Entertainment Weekly. “The biggest challenge is how do you make the audience accept a story without dialogue, and get them moved by the story, let them understand they’re not missing something.”

Throughout the film, we see Kinnaman’s character physically transform while learning different fighting techniques to exact revenge on his son’s killers. Woo says that the actor “was very in the character. He was always pushing himself so hard to work out.”
Adding that Kinnaman “did 99 percent of his stunts, and he was also training with our fight coordinator every day, just rehearsing and training for all of the action sequences. He tried [to give] a real performance but only with his eyes, his eyes have so many stories and so many emotions. I was so happy to work with him.”
The cast for “Silent Night” also includes Scott Mescudi better known as rapper Kid Cudi, who plays a cop. “When he came on the set he said, ‘All I want to do is John Woo action,'” said Woo. “[I said] ‘What is John Woo action?’ ‘It’s firing with two guns.’ So I gave him two guns.”
John Woo, always giving the people what they came to see.
“Silent Night” will hit theaters on December 1st. You can check out the official trailer below:
