27 years after his tragic murder, Las Vegas Police have arrested the man they believe murdered rapper Tupac Shakur. A Clark County grand jury have indicted Duane “Keefe D” Davis with murder. District Judge Jerry Wiese ordered the 60-year-old Davis, a reputed gang member, be held without bail.

Davis, who has been long tied to the Shakur shooting, was taken into custody September 29th. This arrest comes two months after police served a search warrant in Henderson, Nevada. During the search, police were looking for items “concerning the murder of Tupac Shakur.” Davis admitted in interviews, along with his 2019 memoir “Compton Street Legend,” that he was in the Cadillac where gunfire erupted in the shooting.

Shakur was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip on September 13th, 1996. Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo announced the charge of murder with a deadly weapon. DiGiacomo referred to Davis as the “on-ground, on-sight commander” and “shot caller” in the shooting. The shooting has been described as a revenge plot against Shakur, Death Row Records, and label founder Suge Knight.

For almost thirty years, many have wondered about what really happened the night Shakur was murdered. Now that a solid connection to the murder has been charged, we may finally get answers. This cold case has been the focus of many film and TV specials, all speculating on what could have happened. The latest being U.S.A.’s 2018 series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and Biggie Smalls.”
