Horror legend George A. Romero is probably best known for his “Living Dead” series, which spawned from the landmark film “Night of The Living Dead.” Unfortunately, Romero was not able to shoot the last film in the franchise, “Twilight of the Dead,” before he passed away in 2017.

It has now been confirmed that Brad Anderson (2022’s “Blood”) will direct, the “seventh and final installment” of the franchise! He’ll be working from a treatment written by Romero and Paolo Zelati (“The Profane Exhibit”), with the screenplay written by Zelati, Joe Knetter (“That’s a Wrap”), and Robert Lucas (“The Perfect Day for a Picnic”).

“Twilight of the Dead,” will follow the last humans on Earth as they fight to survive on a zombie infested island. It is expected to begin shooting sometime this year.

“George Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead may have been the first real horror movie I ever saw and its shock value, its keen social relevance, and even the means by which it was made were all hugely inspirational to me,” said Anderson. “This too is a zombie movie in which limbs fly and heads roll, but one that is also about social transformation, one that asks the question: What is it to be human? It is also a horror movie with ‘heart’ and, dare I say, hope.”

The film is being produced and financed by the multiplatform production company Roundtable Entertainment. Roundtable is partnering with the Romero estate to finally bring the long-awaited “Twilight of the Dead” to life.

“Twilight of the Dead” is produced by Suzanne Romero, John Baldecchi, Ardvella Entertainment’s Stephanie Caleb, Zelati, and Sarah Donnelly. With  Dominic Ianno, Alex Dundas, Jason Resnick, Chris Roe, and Luis Riefkohl serving as executive producers.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Twilight of the Dead” as they become available.
