20th Century Studios has just released the first trailer for its upcoming film “The Bikeriders.”  The new movie is based on a photography book by Danny Lyon chronicling the rise of a motorcycle club in the Midwest.

“The Bikeriders” is a furious drama that follows the rise of a fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club. The film seeks to immerse audiences in the look, feel, and sounds of the bare-knuckled, grease-covered subculture of ’60s motorcycle riders. [And by the looks of the trailer, mission accomplished.]

The film centers around Kathy (Jodie Comer), a strong-willed member of the Vandals motorcycle club, who is married to the wild and reckless Benny (Austin Butler). She recounts the club’s evolution over the course of a decade. Starting with it being a local club of outsiders brough together by good times, rumbling bikes, and respect for their leader Johnny (Tom Hardy).

Over the years, Kathy tries her best to navigate her husband’s untamed nature and his allegiance to Johnny. Since she feels she must compete with him for Benny’s attention. Life in the Vandals begins to get more dangerous, as the club starts to become a sinister gang. Forcing Kathy, Benny, and Johnny to make choices about their loyalty to the club and each other.

“The Bikeriders” also stars Mike Faist and Michael Shannon, and written/directed by Jeff Nichols. Nichols’ previous projects include “Take Shelter,” “Mud,” “Midnight Special,” and “Loving” which gives an overall sense of the style this movie will most likely have. Sarah Green, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Arnon Milchan are all serving as producers. With Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Sam Hanson, David Kern, and Fred Berger serving as executive producers.

“The Bikeriders” will hit theaters everywhere on December 1st. You can check out the first nostalgia-washed trailer below:
