Director Ángel Manuel Soto is certainly having a moment right now. His DC Comics superhero film “Blue Beetle” just opened this weekend, raking in $25.4 million. While that is far from record breaking, it did dethrone the billion dollar “Barbie” movie from the top of the box office. His next project? Directing “The Wrecking Crew” for MGM.
While plot details for “The Wrecking Crew” are not known at this time. It is being described as a buddy action movie. The script was written by Jonathan Topper, prior to the WGA strike.

Actors Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa are reportedly in talks to play the leads. But the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has halted those discussions, for now.
Currently, Soto is also co-writing a “Transformers” spin-off for Paramount Pictures, which he will also direct. He is developing an animated/live-action hybrid for Paramount Pictures starring Ryan Reynolds. If that weren’t enough, Soto also co-creating a series for Amazon with Gareth Dunnett Alcocer. With Juno Diaz and Borderless Pictures already set to executive produce.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about “The Wrecking Crew” as they develop.
