Dolly Parton Covers Queen’s “We Are The Champions”

American treasure Dolly Parton is an amazing woman. At 77, the singer continues to be a powerhouse in her field. From earning her 10th Guinness World Record, to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We can only hope to have half of the energy she does when we’re that age. To further promote her newest album, “Rockstar,” Parton has released a cover/mash-up of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” and “We Will Rock You.” And while we have Freddy Mercury and co to thank for unforgettable lyrics and composition, Dolly infuses it with her own experience and emotions. A wonderful tribute to Queen, and an anthem to her storied career.

Parton’s cover of “We Are The Champions” is the fourth single on our upcoming album. It features nine original songs, in addition to a number of rock covers featuring some fantastic guests. Parton was inspired to create the album after her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2023, despite primarily being a country singer. In her acceptance speech she exclaimed “I guess I’m a rock star now!” and she’s making good on that statement.

Everyone Wants to Duet With Dolly

On top of releasing a brand new album, Dolly says that she’s here to stay. She has no intention of retiring, and says she’d “rather drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday.” We love you, Dolly. Don’t ever change.

Parton released the lead single for the album in May. “World on Fire” is perhaps Parton’s only song with a message directed politically. Usually one to stay out of the political sphere, Parton could no longer stay quiet on the state of the world and those in power. And it’s a powerful song to lead the rest of the “Rockstar” album. Last month, she shared two other singles: a cover of Heart’s “Magic Man” featuring none other than Ann Wilson herself, as well as a new track called “Bygones.” Featuring Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Six, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Pre-orders are available and ongoing.
