Universal Studios’ Orlando Resort is opening a new section to the park next year. DreamWorks Land will feature characters from “Trolls,” “Shrek,” and “Kung Fu Panda.” The new section will span four acres, with the hope it will revitalize the KidsZone area of the resort.

At this time an official opening date has not been set, but Universal Studios promises more information will be revealed soon. The plans for DreamWorks Land follow news of Minions Land, also at the Orlando Resort. Minions Land offers an interactive and immersive video game experience.

Many DreamWorks films are still popular franchises. “Shrek 2” is the top-grossing DreamWorks Animated film of all time. The “Trolls” franchise is currently working on their third film, the two prior films have already been major hits, along with a popular tv show. Among preschool aged children, “Gabby’s Dollhouse” is ranked 5th globally and 3rd in the U.S. for toys.

Universal Studios announced earlier this year their plans to open a new, original theme park in Frisco, Texas. The new park will be specifically targeted for families with young children. Character meet and greets, interactive shows, and family-friendly attractions will be the focus in this proposed intimate park.

The parks are all under the Universal Destinations & Experiences division, headed by Mark Woodbury. Woodbury is responsible for the rapid ushering of all the new attractions and innovations seen across the Universal Resorts. NBCUniversal Studios recently underwent a restructuring, dividing into four separate divisions. The NBCUniversal Studio Group led by Donna Langley; NBCUniversal Media Group led by Mark Lazarus; NBCUniversal News Group led by Cesar Conde; and the above mentioned division led by Woodbury.

DreamWorks Land is looking at opening up in 2024 along with other new entertainment experiences. We will report further once an opening date has been set for the new attraction in Orlando.
