Bomb Threat Called in to Noel Gallagher Show

Given the rise of certain threats, there’s certainly something to be said for being preemptively cautious. Apparently that’s exactly what happened with Oasis star Noel Gallagher‘s High Flying Birds show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Saturday’s concert was cut abruptly short due to what was announced later as a bomb threat.

Gallagher was set to go on, after opening act Metric and co-headliners Garbage had done their sets. Suddenly the viewscreens adjacent to the stage switched to a red screen with a calm but concerning warning. A tweet posted by Jon Campbell showed a photo of the screen in question, with the comment “Weird things happening at SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center).”

Weird things happening at SPAC (Saratoga Performing Arts Center, for non locals). The stage was all set for Noel Gallagher. Then a guy came on stage and said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, the show will not continue.” pic.twitter.com/EUqZ83IGkD

Campbell later followed up with police issued-statements regarding the evacuation. A bomb threat had reportedly been called in, forcing the show to be put to an immediate stop. Garbage posted a tweet of their own, stating their concern for everyone’s safety, but that there was no information at the time for them to even speculate.

New York State Park police posted to their official facebook page, stating the reason for the shut down and the subsequent search that was performed. After sweeping the center with K9 units and coming up empty, they are now opening an investigation. Making a terrorist threat is a class D felony. With any luck, something comes to light about the circumstances. In the meantime, Gallagher and Garbage will continue their co-headlining tour July 10th. Same place, same time.

Liam Gallagher could not be reached for comment.
