Jason Momoa Will Host Discovery Channel’s 35th Shark Week

Between the upcoming films “Fast X” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” actor Jason Momoa‘s career is going swimmingly. The star has signed on for possibly his most important role yet, Master of Ceremonies of Discovery Channel’s 35th annual Shark Week. Warner Bros. Discovery, the channel’s parent company, made the announcement at their Upfront presentations on May 17th.

“As the host of Shark Week, I am beyond excited to take you along on this journey,” Momoa said about the announcement. “This project means more to me than a week of talking about sharks. It’s a chance for me to learn and share my connection to these amazing creatures. My love of sharks came long before my time as Aquaman — it began several generations before me.”

Which sounds completely on brand with what Shark Week has always been about. Sharing the love of and educating people about these, often villainized sea creatures. Though we will be disappointed if they don’t throw in at least one dad joke about him being Aquaman.

Momoa has also done a lot of charity work for different aquatic-based charities. Last year, he was named Advocate for Life Below Water by the UN Environment Programme. He has also worked with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and rePurpose Global. Momoa even shaved off his hair to advocate against single-use plastics, and has his name on numerous sustainable companies. While single-use plastics are an overall environmental blithe, they are seriously messing up our oceans and sea life.

Discovery Channel’s 35th annual Shark Week will return July 11th-July 18th.

If you just can’t wait for more Momoa, the latest “Fast & Furious” film “Fast X” hits theaters this Friday. But DC Studios’ “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” won’t hit theaters until December 20th, 2023. You can check out the trailer for “Fast X” below:
