Looks like we are getting another addition to the Anne Rice Cinematic Universe. AMC Networks has confirmed it is developing a third and fourth series based on Rice’s iconic literary world. The network is already housing tv series versions of “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches.”

The first will focus on the Talamasca, or the Order of the Talamasca. It is a secret organization that researches, watches over, and documents the paranormal. Including things like witches, spirits, werewolves, and vampires. Rice referred to them as “psychic detectives.” The organization is heavily featured in Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” and “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” novels. This creates a nice interconnecting thread between AMC’s series adaptations, beyond just being in the same universe.

“The enthusiastic critical and fan reception to Interview and Mayfair is a great sign of what is yet to come in this immersive universe based on the works of Anne Rice,” Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said. “We’re excited to be in active development of the next installment in this growing franchise, written and to be showrun by the incomparable John Lee Hancock. The Talamasca is one of the most intriguing elements of Rice’s works and a connective thread through so many of her stories, the standalone and crossover potential for this third series is immense.”

Oscar nominee John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side”) will act as showrunner and head writer. The announcement comes right on the heels of “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches” being renewed for second seasons. “Interview” is currently shooting for its second season in Prague. “Mayfair” is set to start filming its second season in New Orleans later this year.

The second will be “Night Island,” a six-part short-form series. Think 10-15 minute-long episodes. with “short-form” episodes that will probably be about 10-15 minutes long. It will be written by Interview series writer Jonathan Ceniceroz (“Interview with the Vampire“) is penning the script. As assumed by the title, the story will follow human burglars who attempt to steal a valuable painting from Night Island, public nocturnal playground owned by the Vampire Armand. It’s expected to hit AMC later this year.

It’s worth noting later books have the Mayfairs crossing over with the Vampires, partially influenced by the Talamasca.

We’ll keep you updated on this and other news. Catch the first seasons of both “Mayfair Witches” and “Interview” on AMC and AMC+ now.
