Jon Favreau Teases “Mandalorian” Ride for Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

Filmmaker Jon Favreau, creator of “The Mandalorian,” has proposed an immersive new ride for the Galaxy’s Edge Black Spire Outpost “Star Wars” themed area at Disneyland. The suggested attraction would be based on the show’s iconic Razor Crest spaceship.

Favreau’s pitch centers on an attraction that explores the secrets of movie-making magic, giving visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “The Mandalorian” while also providing an exciting ride experience. He envisions a ride that is both educational and immersive. Including haptic technology and assets used in The Volume to make the ride feel like a true adventure.

The Razor Crest spacecraft, which served as the trusty transport and living quarters for Mandalorian Din Djarin and the Force-sensitive toddler Grogu, was destroyed in the second season of “The Mandalorian” by Imperial forces. This has not stopped Favreau from wanting to bring the ship back to life in a new way.

    More Than Just a Ride

Favreau’s vision for the ride goes beyond just a simple attraction, with a focus on exploring the movie-making process and how the special effects in “The Mandalorian” are created.

“It’d almost be like half behind-the-scenes and half a ride,” Favreau explained. “I know when I was younger, I loved when they pulled the curtain back on the effects of the movies. It really made me probably want to do what I’m doing now.”

While Disney has not yet commented on the possibility of a Razor Crest attraction, Favreau’s pitch has generated excitement among “Star Wars” and “Mandalorian” fans alike. With his creative vision and connections within the industry, it seems entirely possible that his dream ride could one day become a reality in the twin Galaxy’s Edge lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
