Josh Gad Lives Out Dream of Being Jungle Cruise Skipper

Most of the world has become familiar with actor Josh Gad. Specifically as the voice of Olaf the snowman from “Frozen.” The naïve-yet-jovial character’s voice has become iconic. But Gad didn’t always have aspirations of being an actor. As a young man, Gad aspired to become a Disneyland Jungle Cruise Skipper. A dream quashed by external forces. But, Gad has finally been living his dream.

He’s a tour guide on the Jungle Cruise ride~ Skipper Gad is the name~

The Jungle Cruise opened on July 17th, 1955, the very first day Disneyland opened it’s gates. The ride was meant to emulate many of Disney’s nature documentaries. The cruise was meant to take park guests on an adventure through never-before-seen territories and explore the unexplored. But heading into the 60s, the wise cracks and bad puns began to work their way into the script of the park Skippers. Now, it’s a beloved attraction entirely for the reason that it’s a river boat ride of bad jokes. And we love it that way.

Gad took to the position like a fish to water. The backside of water, even. The comedic actor’s brand of humor fits the Skipper persona perfectly. Delivering the script with a sarcasm and dryness all his own, he does a phenomenal job. Proof that he could have easily embodied the role those 25 years ago. Or, should acting become boring, we get the idea we’ll know exactly where to find him.

And speaking of “The Jungle Cruise,” a sequel to the recent film starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been greenlit. Given Gad’s perfect performance as a Skipper, many are now vying for him to be cast in the second film. With how popular the actor has become, he wouldn’t be an unwelcome addition.
