“Star Trek” auctions have generated millions by finding homes for costumes, filming models, and all kinds of memorabilia from across 50 years of the franchise.  Starting today, fans will have a chance to bid on “Star Trek” collectibles that have never been available before. It’s a behind-the-scenes view of the franchise and its creators rarely seen outside the gates of Paramount Pictures.

“Star Trek: The Next Generation” “Coming of Age,” season 1 episode 19 Viacom/CBS/Paramount

Among the items is an original Sandy Fries handwritten script from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” season 1 episode 19, “Coming of Age.” It’s a Wesley Crusher-centric story. Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) finds himself facing a strenuous test of his loyalty to Starfleet. Meanwhile Wesley (Wil Wheaton) faces an equally challenging entrance exam at Starfleet Academy. This episode was originally called “Starfleet Academy” but the title was later changed to “Coming of Age.”

Included with this lot are original memos to creator Gene Roddenberry about how to get the script ready for shooting, scenes that need to be deleted, and other behind-the-scenes information.

This lot of official Paramount Studio memos from top executives includes Fries’ original handwritten script and meeting notes. This would give the winning bidder a rare behind-the-scenes look at how a “Star Trek” episode is created.  Additional collectibles are also in the auction as well.

Other items of note are a Paramount Studios security pass for “Star Trek: The Next Generation” crew, and original pieces of Mike Okuda‘s designs from the series.

The auction is live now. You can view additional items from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” here. It runs until February 28th.
