Magnetic and talented public defender Perry Mason is back for another captivating season. Matthew Rhys (“The Americans“) reprising his role as the hard-drinking, downbeat detective. As he takes another shot of his favorite bootleg whiskey, Mason prepares to solve a new murder case and embark on a journey through 1930s Los Angeles.

The upcoming season promises to be as thrilling as ever, with a new trailer giving a glimpse into the world of the show. The plot revolves around the brutal murder of a wealthy oil tycoon. The search for the culprit takes Perry, Della, and Paul to the city’s dark underbelly. The case unravels a complex web of conspiracies causing the trio to question their own definition of guilt.

Rhys returns as the lead, with Juliet Rylance (“The Knick“) as Della, his right-hand. Also returning are Chris Chalk (“When They See Us“) as Paul, a former LAPD officer and Shea Whigham‘s (“Boardwalk Empire“) character, also named Paul, who finds himself on the opposite side of the case. This putting Mason’s friendship with him to the test.

The production values remain as high as ever, with meticulous recreations of depression-era Los Angeles. Despite the budget cuts at Warner Bros. Discovery, the show’s sumptuous visual aesthetic remains intact.

In a sea of procedural lawyer shows that often cast public defenders as villains, Mason stands out as a refreshing depiction of a defender of justice. It’s always a treat to see Mason hit the streets and fight for the innocent. Don’t miss the premiere of “Perry Mason” season 2 Sunday, March 6th on HBO Max.
