SWAT Raids Gamer’s Home Believing He Murdered 2 People

The dangers of butt-dialing persist even in an age when you’d think phones could avoid it. A gamer known as Elijah got the fright of his life when he accidentally dialed 911 while playing “Rainbow Six Seige” with friends. Elijah’s phone called authorities from his back pocket. The gamer informed his team mates via voice chat that he “killed two people,” meaning he’d taken out two players.

Police arrived at his home in less than two minutes, responding to an assumed double homicide.

According to one of Elijah’s friends who shared the story, upon hearing his dog barking, Elijah went to see what was wrong. Police, believing this person had murdered two people, went so far as to aim an assault rifle at Elijah, which significantly frightened the gamer. Elijah was left shaking for several hours after the incident, according to the friend. Just to cover their bases, he was forced to sit and wait while authorities searched his home for four hours.

Trying to diffuse the gamer’s upset, one of the police asked him who his favorite operator for playing RSS was. But it’s unlikely it did much to dispel Elijah’s fear. Having an automatic weapon pointed at you is bound to rattle anyone, especially as blindsided as he was. Luckily, this was a complete accident. Not every gamer has been as lucky.

A number of famous gamers fell victim to Swatting, which is calling authorities to make a false report on illegal activities. The act itself is illegal, but that didn’t stop gamers such as IShowSpeed, xQc, and Dr. Disrespect from being swatted.

Most concur the police responded accordingly, given what they assumed they were heading into. And luckily no one was hurt. Elijah’s probably going to be keeping his phone on his desk for future gaming, though.
