SHAI HULUD! We are delighted to report filming has officially started for Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.” The news comes from a pretty reliable source- the official social media channels for the film. So you know, pretty damn accurate.

As you may know, Nerdbot is pretty into “Dune.” Just not the SYFY miniseries. The less said about that one the better.

“Dune” Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures

Villeneuve’s “Part Two” will pick up after Paul Atreides aka Muad’Dib (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) join the Fremen, led by Stilgar (Javier Bardem). We last saw Chani (Zendaya) teaching Paul the way of the desert. We know Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård) survived Duke Leto’s (Oscar Isaac) attempt to kill him, and we expect to see more Geidi Prime.

We ALSO know some new faces are joining the film. Florence Pugh will play Princess Irulan, daughter of the Emperor of the Known Universe, Shaddam IV of House Corrino (Christopher Walken). Léa Seydoux is set to play Margot Lady Fenring, but we still don’t know who’s playing Count Fenring. Austin Butler, fresh off his landmark performance as Elvis Presley, will play Feyd Rautha Harkonnen, nephew of the Baron.

Still no word on St. Alia of the Knife, though.

At present, “Dune: Part Two” has a set release date of November 17th, 2023. We anticipate that date to change, however. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
