Lost “Ghostbusters” Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman Interview Uncovered

If you’d like to see a rare interview with the late Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman, then you’re in luck. A clip that many people don’t remember or never got to see has been recovered. The comedy greats are discussing “Ghostbusters” and “Ghostbusters II.” This dates back to 2005, and upon further inspection- I realize the DVD set being promoted is the same one that sits upon my shelf.

They discuss how during the filming of “Ghostbusters” effectively shut down Manhattan. Accidentally, of course. The interview was done for “The Early Show” on CBS.

    Ramis began saying:

“It shut down Central Park West. Then, it shut down 65th and 66th going through the park. That shut down Fifth Avenue, and that shut down the whole East Side. Then, it shut down Columbus Circle, which shut down Ninth and Eighth and Broadway.”

    And Reitman added:

“We effectively slowed down Manhattan. People thought it was real. People in buses were stuck.”

Ivan Reitman passed away this past Saturday, February 12th, 2022. Ramis passed on February 24th, 2014.

So seeing them together makes me think they’ve been reunited in the great beyond. I like to think the two are somewhere and sharing stories with one another once again.
