Last week, we reported that Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk) and Amanda Fix (Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma) would star in The Conjuring: First Communion. Now, it’s confirmed that German actor Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of Thieves) has joined the cast, in an undisclosed role.

Plot details for First Communion are being kept under wraps. We do know this will be a prequel with Wareing and Fix playing younger versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple was previously portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the previous 4 Conjuring films. Wilson and Farmiga ended their run as the demonologists with The Conjuring: Last Rites. The film came out last year and set a new box office record for the franchise, pulling in over $499 million worldwide.
Rodrigue Huart (Are You Still Here?) will direct First Communion from a script by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing. The same writing duo behind Last Rites and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. New Line is backing the project with Peter Safran producing. John Rickard, Natalia Safran, and Romel Adam will executive produce.
The Conjuring: First Communion is currently set to hit theaters on September 10, 2027.
