If you like exploitation films, specifically nunsploitation, have we got a treat for you. SamHel’s The Torture of Sister Helena has just entered post-production. The movie is heavily influenced by genre films of the past, but the best part is that it will use zero CGI or AI.
And we got to stand behind any indie not using AI to “cut costs” in 2026.

The Torture of Sister Helena
The movie centers around Sister Helena, a nun trying to leave her troubled past behind. Things go from bad to worse when her father offering her $5 million to leave the church and join his business makes the news. This offer causes 3 thieves to kidnap the sister in an attempt to get her millions.
Described as “Graphic, shocking and straight to the point.” Like most good exploitation films are! And if the trailer is any indicator, things get pretty bloody very fast for Sister Helena and her captors. It also shows off in just a few brief clips what a loving ode to the genre this is.
The Torture of Sister Helena was shot in just 5 days with just 12 people. The project is currently trying to raise $4,500 as funding for screenings, post-production, and any pick-up shots. It’s also raising funds for an additional film, Happiness Through Wounding, a psychological horror film. If their goal is met, that project will start shooting in 2027.
Compared to what most films get made for, $4,500 to finish one off and start shooting another is incredibly reasonable. Even more impressive considering they aren’t allowing machines to cheaply do the work for them.
