As a parent who’s spent more times than I can count unwrapping L.O.L. Surprise! dolls with my kids, I can honestly say this is one project that longtime fans are going to love. Over the years, we’ve collected everything from the tiny Tots to the stylish O.M.G. dolls, and the excitement has always been in discovering what surprise comes next. Now, that same magic is making the leap to live action with L.O.L. Surprise! The Next Headliner.

This series will be Launching August 1 on the L.O.L. Surprise! YouTube channel. The eight-episode scripted comedy series marks the franchise’s first live-action project. The story follows five aspiring performers who arrive expecting to compete against one another for a dream music opportunity. And of course like any inspirational story it evolves into the girls working together. The find what truly makes them shine is to work with each other instead of trying to compete with each other. This series will blend mockumentary-style comedy, original music, and an inspiring message about friendship, confidence, and embracing individuality.

    Cast and Producers

The cast features talented triple threats Giselle Torres, Indi Star, Journey Montana Binns, Kate Mina Lin, and Olivia Taylor Cohen. The show will have original songs performed throughout the series. It will be produced by London Alley, writer-showrunner Corinne Marshall (K.C. Undercover), director Chell Stephen, and composer Demitri Lerios. It will also include a surprise Grammy-winning global music superstar serving as a mentor. They plan on releasing episodes on their YouTube channel every two weeks. The series will come together in a two-part finale. L.O.L. Surprise! will also be releasing a full soundtrack based on music from the series.

Rosalia and her L.O.L. Surprise! doll

The series is just one part of L.O.L. Surprise!’s 10th anniversary celebration, which embraces a music festival theme. What’s more about this is that they will also be releasing dolls inspired by a couple of characters from the show. Jennie and Rosalía will have new Music Festival collections, fresh doll face sculpts, interactive playsets, exclusive collaborations with brands like Harry Potter, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dr. Seuss, and Hello Kitty, plus live fan experiences and giveaways. This looks like the kind of fun, feel-good family series that will entertain my kids and get them off my back for a little while. I’m looking forward to it.
