Flula Borg, Troy Kotsur Star in The Satirical Horror Film “The American Winner”

You know, it’s hard to beat a good horror movie with a nice satirical edge to it. Filming has just wrapped on The American Winner, from writer – director Farbod Ardebili.

The upcoming horror satire will star Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect) and Oscar winner Troy Kotsur (CODA).

The American Winner tells the story of a megalomaniacal tech billionaire who manipulates markets from home. All while he also guards a bizarre being he’s accidentally impregnated and must feed to keep his progeny alive. Hmmm, what current social issues could this possibly be commenting on?

Borg and Kotsur star alongside Ashby Gentry (My Life with the Walter Boys), Misha Osherovich (Freaky), Toks Olagundoye (Frasier), Lorena E. González (Switch Up), and Shavvon Lin (Hanging Dead).

The American Winner is produced by Dane Eckerle and Cole Eckerle for their Bad Grey banner. Daniel Brandt and Mark Finley of Plain Text, who developed the project, also produce alongside John Henry Hinkel. Executive producers include Tom Spriggs and Atil Singh for Principal Entertainment, Lorena E. Gonzalez, Erin O’Connor, and Maurice Black of Story Incubator, Katherine Kendall, Jimmy Cai, and Shavvon Lin.

“When we met Flula we knew he was the perfect person to bring our tech-centric Patrick Bateman to life. We view this one as a five-minutes-into-the-future tech world update of AMERICAN PSYCHO infused with a THE THING-style monster that is really going to freak people out. THE AMERICAN WINNER is a wild blend of horror and satire that pulls no punches and is chock full of relevant commentary that we feel will resonate with audiences today,” said Brandt about the film.

There is currently no set release window for The American Winner. We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops.
