Patricio Valladares is Working on an Interactive Horror Game

Chilean filmmaker Patricio Valladares (Invoking Scream) is breaking into the world of video games. He is working on a currently untitled game that is said to blend interactive gaming with analog filmmaking.

“In terms of format, the project is being designed as a microdrama-style FMV experience: a shorter interactive horror title, approximately two to three hours in length, with multiple endings and branching narrative paths,” Valladares tells Variety.

The project centers around a silent, masked killer who is trapped in a loop of death and resurrection. Players will interact through the killer’s perspective. Each new resurrection cycle will reveal alternate outcomes, hidden supernatural connections, and new layers of this nightmarish universe.

Valladares co-wrote the project with Barry Keating (Sifu), and they previously collaborated on Invoking Yell. The entire game is being shot on 16mm using Bolex H16 cameras. Feeding into the seemingly endless current market demand for analog media and false nostalgia.

“This project was born from the idea of creating something that feels physically haunted,” Valladares said. “We wanted analog film to become part of the horror language itself, while interactivity transforms each cycle into a new experience.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about Valladares’ upcoming FMV game as the project develops.
