Dave Franco is now officially on board to star opposite Sophie Wilde in the alien invasion thriller Soon You Will Be Gone And Possibly Eaten. The news arrived as Cannes Market was arriving, and sent a definite jolt of urgency through one of the more interesting genre films in play.

Franco will play opposite Wilde, with the film adapted from a short story by Nick Antosca. Egor Abramenko, who helmed Sputnik, will direct. Writing is from Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins, who also wrote Hellraiser and the Night House.

Franco and Wilde play Rob and Sabile, a young, soon-to-be-married couple who are headed to an isolated mountain resort to exchange vows. Their day turns into a nightmare when they discover that alien guests have crashed their ceremony. This discovery turns their intimate holiday into a bloodbath.

It’s an insane concept but we’ve got a serious crew behind it.

Abramenko is also behind A24’s Altar, which will also feature Slavina’s production design. Her relationship with Abramenko continued with Sputnik. She also served as production design on that film. This was done with the help of alien design team Monkey Rave.

For Wilde, it adds to a very busy schedule. The incredibly hot young Aussie actress is a favored muse of A24. This follows box office successes Talk To Me and Babygirl. She is currently in post on a horror pic from Arkasha Stevenson. She is also working on a Halloween themed pic from Jeremy Saulnier called October. She’ll also appear in Alejandro González Iñárritu and Warner Bros.’ Digger later this year.

Meanwhile, Franco is infusing the part with genuine genre bona fides, having also recently starred in the stylishly entertaining Now You See Me and Together. And he’s taking on the role in a project that could potentially put both of them in hitherto uncharted waters.

Anton is financing the whole film and taking worldwide rights. Domestic sales are handled by Anton, Anonymous Content and WME Independent. Supplemental casting continues.

Producers are Sébastien Raybaud for Anton, Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat. Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks produce for Divide/Conquer. Nick Shumaker for Anonymous Content and Dawn Olmstead also produce.

Filming on Soon You Will Be Gone And Possibly Eaten is scheduled to start this summer.
