It’s arguably the greatest sitcom of all time. Frasier was a critical and commercial darling. It’s first five seasons won consecutive Emmy awards for Outstanding Comedy. Its stars, Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce took home multiple awards as well. Hell, David Hyde Pierce scored eleven consecutive nominations fore Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, one for each of the show’s seasons. Even though the rest of the cast wasn’t as blessed with golden statues, they all came together to make one of the best comedies ever. Frasier completed its run in 2004 before being revived for a dreadful two season continuation in 2023. But what happened with the cast between those time periods and what are they up to now?
David Hyde Pierce – Niles Crane

If anyone was the true star of Frasier, it was Niles. The younger Crane sibling stole the show was his quirky personality traits and signature snark. He also famously did not return for the revival seasons, something that was a series detriment to the program. He’s kept more than busy with other projects though. A large amount of his effort has been concentrated on the theater. DHP got himself a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for 2007’s “Curtains.” He was nominated again in 2017 for “Hello Dolly!” More recently he was in 2025’s remake of “The Pirates of Penzance,” entitled “Pirates! The Penzance Musical.”
He’s also popped up in other television shows and films across the last two decades. He is notably wonderful in 2010’s The Perfect Host and appeared in 2024’s The Exorcism alongside Russell Crowe. On television you can see him in the two seasons of HBO Max’s Julia from 2022 and in a recurring guest role in The Good Wife from 2014.
Jane Leeves – Daphne Crane (née Moon)

Of the major stars of Frasier, Jane Leeves is the only one to find success in multiple recurring television roles. After popping up in guest spots for the years following Frasier, she landed a recurring gig on TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland for six seasons. It’s probably not a coincidence that the show was created and produced by former Frasier writer, Suzanne Martin. She would then get to show off her dramatic acting chops in 2018 when she jointed the cast of Fox’s, The Resident. Her career has remained pretty quite since the show ended in 2023, but you can’t complain much about having two solid post Frasier shows. She’s also one of the only cast members not to return for the revival seasons.
John Mahoney – Martin Crane

The late, great, John Mahoney had the least amount of post Frasier screen time. He did some voice work for Disney and while Frasier was airing in the form of Atlantis: The Lost Empire and afterwards in Kronk’s New Groove. John would also pop in for an episode of The Simpsons with a kind of Frasier family reunion. He played Dr. Robert Terwilliger Sr, the father of Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammer) and Sideshow Cecil (David Hyde Pierce). His biggest roles in his later career was a recurring role in the show In Treatment and Hot in Cleveland. John passed away in 2018. His character was remembered fondly in the Frasier revival series.
Peri Gilpin – Roz Doyle

One thing you can say about Peri Gilpin is that her voice is powerfully distinct. She’s put it to very good use following the ending of Frasier. She’s been in multiple episodes of King of the Hill, an episode of Justice League, two animated Hellboy features, and Danny Phantom. Her physical presence was also seen most notably in Make It or Break It. The ABC Family drama ran for three seasons with Peri being in the first two.
Other than that, she has popped up for guest roles in a number of different series. Grey’s Anatomy, Why Women Kill, C.S.I., Scorpion, Mr. Robinson, Station 19, and the list keeps going on. Of all the cast members, she’s basically the one to most likely pop up randomly in a show you’re currently watching. That even extended to the Frasier revival where she was more of a presence than any of the other previous characters.
Kelsey Grammer – Frasier Crane

Heh. Oh boy. There’s so much to say about Kelsey’s post Frasier career that we can’t even go into it right now. In fact, it deserves its own article. Stay tuned…
