James Gunn’s directorial debut, the cult horror-comedy Slither, turns 20 this year. In celebration, Visions Home Video will bring it briefly back to UK theaters to promote the movie’s first-ever 4K Digital re-release. These theatrical runs will start on May 1st, along with the digital re-release.

A special limited edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook edition hits shelves later that same month.

The movie takes place in a small town where citizens are being taken over by an extraterrestrial parasite. Its goal? To devour all life forms on Earth. That’s when the town sheriff and a local woman team up to kill the monster. Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), and Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy) star.

Visions’ re-release is restored from the 35mm Interpositive, it’s approved by Gunn and Director of Photography Gregory Middleton.

The extras for the Blu-ray and UK exclusive Steelbook releases include:

    • We’ve Got Worms – An interview with Director of Photography Gregory Middleton.
    • Feed The Fear – An interview with Editor John Axelrad.
    • Just A Bee Sting – An interview with Special Make-up Effects Designer Todd Masters.
    • What’s Gotten Into You – An interview with Composer Tyler Bates.

The Steelbook also features artwork by Chris Malbon and comes with a collectible poster.

Slither will return to UK cinemas on May 1st, alongside the film’s digital re-release. Visions Home Video’s 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook combo hits shelves on May 18th, while supplies last.
