In 2016, Lights Out, directed by David F. Sandberg and co-written by Eric Heisserer, hit theaters. The horror feature took in $149 million worldwide on a production budget of less than $5 million. Given the monumental success of the first film, a sequel has been in and out of development for years.
Now the potential feature has a new writer attached, Connor Osborn McIntyre, who recently wrote Animals.

Lights Out told the story of a family being menaced by an evil entity that lives in the shadow and dark recesses of buildings. It starred Teresa Palmer, Maria Bello, Gabriel Bateman, and Alexander DiPersia.
We’re still in the dark at this time about what plot Lights Out 2 might have, or if any cast members will return.
Original producers Lawrence Grey and James Wan’s Atomic Monster are returning, alongside Heisserer and Sandberg, who will be stepping into the producer roles for the sequel.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about Lights Out 2 as the project, hopefully, continues to develop.
