Earlier this month we reported on Bruce Campbell being diagnosed with a “treatable” but not “curable” cancer. He recently gave an update on how the diagnosis is affecting promoting his new movie Ernie & Emma.
A film he wrote, produced, directed, and starred, working alongside his wife, Ida Gearon.

Despite him being known as a horror icon for playing Ash Williams in the legendary Evil Dead franchise. Ernie & Emma is far from a horror film.
“It’s almost like you have to have this disclaimer of, ‘Warning: No chainsaws! Danger: No blood!'” Campbell told USA Today.
In it Campbell plays a former small-town pear salesman who has lost his wife, and how to move forward. The movie premiered February 14th at Medford’s historic Holly Theatre and is currency touring.
“It doesn’t change anything for me,” Campbell said about his cancer diagnosis affecting the tour. “It makes you prioritize 100 percent, and for me, the priority is this movie.” .
“My wife and I have never made a movie together before, and this is the most exciting thing ever,” he explains. “We finally got to do something that has no outside influence. We made it in our own little bubble.”
Campbell still plans to attend every screening because he wants to see how audiences connect with a project so personal to him.
