Early 2000s television was undeniably dominated by reality shows, with Fox being one of the worst offenders. However, in 2004, the network took it to a whole new level with The Swan. A competition reality TV series where “ugly ducklings” underwent extreme measures to be … not?
Erin Lee Carr (Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara) will direct and produce a documentary for Hulu exploring the bizarre series.

The Swan ran for two seasons and pitted women against each other to see who could make the biggest physical transformation. We’re talking personal trainers, therapists, dentists, and multiple cosmetic surgeries in just 3 months. With the winner being crowned “The Swan.”
Over 2 decades later, the concept still raises eyebrows. The currently untitled documentary will deep dive into the show by talking to the crew behind it and former contestants. Exactly who was willing to be interviewed and their thoughts are under wraps at this time.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about Hulu’s documentary about The Swan as the project develops.
